Just like any other marketing campaign, SMS Marketing needs leads or a target audience in order to work. You may ask yourself, how does one gets leads? Do I really need a new task to do? Isn’t business tough enough to make it even more complicated?

Sure, we are about to ask you to make your life a tad more complicated, but let’s just say that the rewards will far outweigh the effort to say the least! Think about it, you already have a customer flow, all you need to do is to make sure this customer flow is aware of your SMS Marketing effort. Once you capture a lead, it goes into your client’s database. You can then contact them again at the time of your choosing, you can make it a once in a month offer, or just a 1 time offer when you are having a slow day. Your imagination is the limit here.

Informing your customers can take many forms. It can be anything from a clear sign that is visible in a key location where your customer can see it for a few seconds while not interrupting your business flow, it can be a QR code placed in an intriguing location or maybe a quick message on all of your receipts, the possibilities are endless. But in any cases, it should be placed in as many medium as possible alongside your contact information, your email, your website and your different phone numbers. SMS is a new and additional way for your customer to interact with you. It is fairly new and will get over 97% of your marketing messages read within the first 10 minutes you send it. Those incredible read rate will not last forever. We are still in SMS Marketing’s infancy and you can still position yourself to be ahead of the curve!

Well in sight of all their customer, they had a sign that not only contained a QR Code but also the instructions to Text COLD to Cold Stone Creamery short code. The sign was placed right by the beginning of the queue where customers start to browse the different ice cream flavors available and are waiting to be served, therefore getting the most attention from Cold Stone Creamery’s customers. Too many times I have seen similar signs placed in incongruous places where they have next to zero chance of being noticed. Just like with any other form of marketing, placement of your SMS Marketing message is very important. Remember that all of these people will help you in the future as well as during their present visit. In SMS Marketing, lead capture is the most single important step. Just as in the regular business process where customer acquisition can be the single most costly process, in SMS Marketing, lead capture allows you to lock in a customer and be able to turn them into repeat customers.

I get this question many times over. “Should I really care about Social Media Marketing? After all I just have a small pizza restaurant and almost no marketing budget!” It is indeed a good question, why would a small business with very limited resources even bother with social media?

Well, just think about the fact that Facebook is the second most visited web site right now, Twitter is 9th and YouTube is 3rd just to name a few. Now let’s forget the fact that Facebook is the second most visited web site. Could you afford not to use the second most visited web site as a marketing media if all that is cost you is a few minutes of your time each day? I don’t think so!

Now, I would love to sell you our Social Media Platform, but if we go back to our small pizza owner, I realize that many business owners just do not have a budget for such things as Social Media Marketing. So in this case I would advise the pizza restaurant owner to offer a free drink to any one who “Checks in” via Facebook at his restaurant. Just imagine, all of the people who are “friends” with your customer will be able to see that their “buddy” checked in your businesses. You just created a “buzz” about your business and all you spent was the cost of a soda. If you want to push it a little more, you could also create a Facebook page for your business and also offer a free drink or anything else you want to those who check in and “Like” your page.

The possibilities are endless. It just takes a little time to implement on your own, or of course you could write me and I’ll be more than happy to offer our services…

You may have seen those weird looking bar code on a coffee cup, behind your cash register receipt or even on a newspaper ad. Well, get ready to see a whole lot more of those pesky little bar codes!

They are called QR codes and when they are scanned by a QR code reader, they will allow your customers or leads to easily text, add a contact, email, add a calendar item or even point to a Geo location. QR code reader are available for just about all smart phones and most regular phone that have access to Apps. It is estimated that about 30% of all smart phones users now have a QR code reader loaded on their device. This number will only increase as the Mobile Revolution takes hold. Nevertheless, marketers should not forget the fact that although it is always a good thing to be ahead of the curve when it comes to new technology, you should not forget those who still do not have QR code readers and those who still have devices that do not support them.

I have seen many example of marketing campaigns when only a QR code was available. The last one was at a MAJOR fast food chain restaurant. They had a QR code and some ad text stating that you had to just scan the QR code. They did not mention how to get a QR code reader and did not take into consideration those consumers who couldn’t scan the QR code right away. In my opinion this was a wasted opportunity where the advertiser only reached 30% or so of its target audience. A much more logical approach would have been to offer the QR code as well as the “Text Keyword to short code (3 to 7 digit number)” instructions so that every single persons would have been able to take action right there in the few minutes that this offer was relevant…

1- Choose your keyword. It should relate to your business and what you do. A keyword is 3 to 13 characters long.
2- Get your client to opt-in to your SMS list.
3- Send messages to your SMS list!

Of course depending on your industry, there are many applications available. One of the ley factor of a successful Mobile Marketing campaign is to include your keyword(s), short code and QR codes in all of your printed marketing material, just as you would do with your phone number, url, email and fax number.

If your customers/clients do not know about your mobile marketing effort, then it will not work. Just as if your customers/clients do not know you have a website, then it will not work either.

You should integrate your mobile marketing into your broad marketing campaigns. Mobile, Web, Social, TV/Radio and Print marketing should be intertwined together in order to reach all audiences.

A6V3 will show you how you can benefit from Mobile Marketing and how easy it is to implement. Best of all, with just $19.99 you can try Mobile Marketing and see how a 97%+ read rate of your marketing messages can greatly help your bottom line!
